Bakesale Success!

Bakesale for Japan

A couple of weeks ago, Amanda at Bake it Pretty found out about this event where people all over the country were having bakesales on April 2 to benefit Peace Winds America, an organization supplying emergency disaster relief to the people affected by the tsunami and earthquake in Japan.  She suggested that we participate, and within a day, we were planning a bakesale.

With less than two weeks to plan, we were shocked at how much attention our little bakesale garnered.  We got mentioned in our local weekly, the Mountain Xpress, and we had donations from many local bakers and bakeries.  It was awesome!  Here’s some pictures:

And of course I made some stuff too.  There were Gluten-Free Brownies and my mom’s awesome date bars that we didn’t get pictures of.  And there were these:

So, all told, we ended up earning over $1,000 for Japan relief!  Amanda also awesomely donated 10% of that day’s sales from the Bake it Pretty shop and website.  We definitely worked hard, and by the end of the day we were a little slap-happy.

But overall, we were so proud to have helped do so much good!

Love,

Ian

p.s. Thank you thank you thank you to Amanda for supplying the space, the tent, the tables, the initiative, the posters, and the pictures!  We were so happy to participate in this event, and we couldn’t have done it without her extreme generosity!

The Almond Mini Cupcakes with Chocolate Espresso Buttercream were so good! I’ve had gluten-free items from other bakers that were disappointing, but, you could not tell these were gluten free! I am seriously hooked on Sugarbomb!
